The original Aakash Tablet made a sensational debut in India aided by its lowest price tag for a tablet anywhere in the world, but it failed to rise up to the expectations of the student community. Based on the initial inputs from a pilot study on original Aakash tablet by IIT Rajasthan students, Datawind has brought the much improvised second generation Aakash 2 also called as UbiSlate 7+. This version is priced at Rs. 2999/- in India and has a better 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor which is capable to handle multiple operations at a time. Aakash 2 also has a more powerful 3200 mAh battery for long battery life, Android 2.3 (in place of Android 2.2 in the old version) and Wi-Fi & GPRS (SIM & Phone functionality) instead of only Wi-Fi in original Aakash. The tablet boasts of DataWind’s UbiSurfer browser, which accelerates web pages loading by factors of 10x to 30x which adds speed to your browsing experience.
